DR LINDA WHITWORTH

MBChB MRCGP DCH DRCOG DFFP

Dr Whitworth qualified from Leeds University in 1992. She has been a GP since 1998, working in a large local practice until moving to New Longton Surgery in 2015. She took over as principal GP in April 2017 and is the CQC "registered manager". Being a local resident herself, Dr Whitworth enjoys the challenge of practising medicine in a small, busy village surgery, as well as being committed to her managerial responsibilities. Dr Whitworth is an extremely professional, dedicated and personable clinician who strives to provide the highest standard of care for all the patients.

DR WENDY GRICE

MBBS BSc MRCGP DFFP

Dr Grice graduated from The Royal Free Hospital in 1999. She has been a GP since 2005, joining the team at New Longton in the summer of 2017. Dr Grice is also extremely dedicated to New Longton practice and all the patients. A truly professional GP with an approachable and friendly manner, Dr Grice consistently provides excellent advise and care.

Nurse Practitioners

CORRIE LLEWELLYN

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Corrie joins us in the surgery every Tuesday. She can diagnose and prescribe for a wide range of conditions.

Nurses

We have one Practice nurse who works closely with the doctors and who is trained to do an extensive number of procedures and tests. Monday and Friday are the days appointments may be booked with the nurse. The nurse may work alongside the doctor, for example assisting in procedures, or work alone in screening clinics, asthma and diabetes clinics etc. You may book directly with the nurse for such services as immunisations, cervical smears, medical advice etc.

LINDSEY WHITELEY

Lindsey joined the team in October 2019 as Practice Nurse. Appointments can be made with Lindsey for Chronic disease annual reviews, cervical screening, baby vaccinations and checks, some travel vaccinations.

First Contact Physiotherapist

NAGARJUNA MAREM

First Contact Physiotherapists (FCP).

FCP's use their expertise to triage, assess, diagnose and manage musculoskeletal problems and related conditions. Early intervention from a physiotherapist can help to prevent chronic musculoskeletal issues and promote self-management. First contact physiotherapists are able to administer exercise & injection therapy and refer onto primary community and secondary health care services using his expert judgement.

DEBBIE SANDS

Practice Manager

Debbie joined the practice in June 2023. She has over 30 years experience of working for the NHS in general practice and has recently worked at a large local surgery. Debbie is committed to ensuring that the practice continues to provide an excellent, caring service and is willing to help you with any administrative or non-medical aspects of your health and treatment. She is also available, by appointment, to discuss any suggestions, which may improve our service to you.

EMILY WALMSLEY

Reception Manager

Emily commenced employment with the surgery in April 2018 having previously worked with NHS 111.

Reception

All the staff are here to try and help you and are pleased to do so. Reception is your link with the rest of the practice. You may be required to supply medical details in order for the team to work effectively, knowing at all times they are working under the instructions of the doctors. All information supplied is treated in confidence and all the staff are bound by the same codes of conduct as the doctors and nurse. The more information you are able give to reception the better the staff will be able to assist you.

WENDY JACKSON

Wendy joined the practice in May 2023. She has many years previous experience in general practice.

Kate joined the surgery August 2021 as a receptionist and providing care navigation.

SAMANTHA JEFFERIES

Samantha joined the practice in May 2023.

Bridgedale Associate Psychological Practitioner

They offer the Mental Health Prevention and Promotion Service They offer brief psychological interventions for people struggling with mild to moderate common mental health difficulties such as: • Low mood • Anxiety and Worry • Sleep difficulties • Managing Stress This might involve practicing new skills to manage mental health. They offer up to 5 sessions over the phone or face-to-face. They can also signpost and refer on to other services. They also deliver group sessions in the community.

CHARLOTTE MARSDEN

Bridgedale Mental Health Practitioner

The Mental Health Practitioner offers an assessment of your mental health difficulties. They aim to be non-judgemental, friendly, approachable, and will formulate a plan with you which enables you to get the help you require at the right time. They cover areas such as: • Depression • Anxiety • Stress • Intrusive thoughts • OCD • Trauma related issues • Worry Following assessment, they often signpost people to services which they feel may help support you best

Bridgedale Health and Wellbeing Coach

I can help you to improve your health and commit to lifestyle changes by working with you to set personalised goalsfocusing on what matters to you, as well as signposting you to helpful resources and peer support groups. I can help people aged 18+ who are: - looking to improve markers of health such as blood pressure, BMI, cholestrol etc. - looking to improve their diet. - looking to increase their physical activity. - struggling with motivation. - willing to making lifestyle changes.

SAM CROOK

Bridgedale Social Prescriber

Our service offers help in connecting patients to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support. We do this by providing patients with the time to speak about what matters to them. Overall, our role is to provide patients with the appropriate tools they need to ultimately take back and regain control of their health and wellbeing. Helping patients who are struggling from social Isolation, bereavement or loneliness Helping patients with lifestyle choices e.g., Diet, smoking, alcohol, self-care Getting patients out into the community and connecting them with Peer Support/Social activities Helping patients with issues surrounding employment, volunteering and/or training advice: Providing guidance for patients with Money/debt/benefits/housing issues Helping patients increase in physical activity to overall enhance and improve their health
